Pay as you go mobile broadband deal from 3
Good news – mobile broadband operator 3 (three) has dropped the price of its pay as you go broadband (PAYG) services and its 3GB ready to go mobile broadband starter kit.
To find out more visit the Three website.
New customers to the 3 network will receive a mobile broadband dongle (fits in the USB port of your computer) for a one-off payment of £19.99.
Buy the mobile broadband dongle for £20.
Then in true pay as you go style, you purchase top-ups for the dongle.
- 1GB top-up – £10
- 3GB top-up – £15
- 7GB top-up – £25
Note: each mobile broadband top-up must be used within 30 days of crediting it to the broadband account.
How far does 1GB (£10) of data go?
A 3GB top-up could allow you to send 1,000 emails, surf the internet for 10 hours, download 20 minutes of vidoes and listen to 30 music tracks. I think this is actually quite a lot of data for a month. Not a bad deal for a tenner a month.
The great thing is the flexibility. If you don’t intend on using broadband for a month, don’t buy a top-up. If you are renting accommodation or are in student accommodation – buy a dongle and 3GB of data for under £40* (see below) for the first month and then £2o ongoing; saves you from getting a BT landline sorted or signing-up to a broadband contract.
Mobile broadband deal
3 are offering a starter kit of a dongle plus the first months 3GB of data for a special price of £40 (saves £5 over buying the two separately). Not a massive saving, but a saving none the less – especially if you were going to buy this item anyway.
